Baseball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Once my playing days were over, umpiring kept me in the game. Going to Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School catapulted my career beyond belief. While at umpire school, I will be supervising the class to make sure everyone is on the same page and everything is running smooth. I look forward to working with each and every one of you.
I have spent nine years instructing at the Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School. My passion for the profession runs deep and enjoy passing along the knowledge I have to other aspiring umpires. While at umpire school, I am the chief of field instruction. I ensure that all aspects of on-field work are thoroughly taught and covered. I am also responsible to make sure drills, cage work, control games and live games are running correctly and efficiently.
I attended The Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School right out of college and have been working professional baseball since then. I was fortunate enough to have Hunter hire me on to staff in 2012. I can say, without a doubt, I love this place! It's changed my life by giving me my dream job and introducing me to some of my best friends. I get to continually learn from the best in Major League Baseball annually while also teaching the next generation. I'm currently the Chief Classroom Instructor, meaning I lead the rule lectures daily. When it comes to umpiring, our school is the best on the planet, and I know you'll enjoy and love the experience as much as I do.
After going to school in 2011, I’ve been on staff since 2012. Being part of the Wendelstedt family has been a remarkable experience. Being able to teach and give back to the umpiring profession is very special to me. The lifelong friendships I’ve made with the staff and students is something I wouldn’t trade. Throughout my time at school, I have spent time in the classroom, and most recently a field leader. As a field leader we run the field through drills, control games, and live games.
I take pride being an instructor at Wendelstedt Umpire School, because I know that our students get the best instruction. Our heritage as the longest running, and by far most successful institution of our kind not only gives me pride, but a sense of obligation to continue that level of excellence. At umpire school I assist in the classroom in rules and mechanics instruction. On the fields I move amongst the fields to assist the field leaders in any way I can.
Umpire school is an opportunity of a lifetime! The knowledge gained at school is second to none. We offer Major League training from day one!! While at school, I serve as a field leader on the field and teach the two-umpire system in the classroom.
In 2012, I was a Little League umpire that signed up for the Wendelstedt Umpire School Class of 2013 on a whim. I had no idea what the future had in store for me after umpire school, but I can truly say I’ve had some of the best times of my life. Working on a professional diamond is a blessing, but my favorite time of the year is teaching at umpire school. I love meeting all of the ambitious umpires from around the world and helping them to achieve their full potential.
Umpire school is a place where people from all backgrounds, personally and career based, come together and learn how to umpire. I enjoy seeing people with many years of experience and those with no years of experience uniting and umpiring together, as one crew.
While at The Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School I serve as a field leader as well as the banquet coordinator. As a field leader, I am responsible for organizing as well as running and leading all field activities. These include drills, control games and innings. As the banquet coordinator I am responsible for the banquet venue, seating arrangements, banquet meals, guest registration and all other banquet inquiries.
Being on staff is a privilege that I am extremely grateful to have. The Wendelstedt Umpire School has a long tradition of training the world’s best Major League Umpires and it’s an honor to be part of that tradition. At umpire school I read the rule book verbatim in the classroom. I also demonstrate the proper way to enforce rules/mechanics as the Base Umpire.
Instructing at Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School has been a true blessing. It is an honor to put on the Red Coat every day and teach with the top minds of Major League and Minor League Umpires. But the greatest satisfaction of all comes from seeing students the first week of school evolve into the next group of future Major League Umpires. During school, I assist in the classroom teaching the 2-Umpire system, as well as assigning live innings out at the fields.
The opportunities that this school has given to me are unmatched. To be an umpire in professional baseball and even more so to instruct at Wendelstedt are two of my biggest dreams that could not have been accomplished without this school. Every instructor here was once a student at this school, passionate and eager to get in to professional baseball, and now we are here to pass our knowledge on to you, so you can be the best umpire you can be. On staff I am the hotel liaison, set up control games, and will be in the classroom as well as on the field to instruct and answer any questions you may have.
My student year at Harry’s was very satisfying, especially after working my first year in professional baseball. Even today, I use the fundamentals I’ve learned and now teach here at umpire school.
One of the coolest parts about being on staff at the Wendelstedt Umpire School is seeing first-hand the vast improvement in each one of our students throughout the progression of the course. At school I am in charge of administering and grading tests, as well as helping with equipment and apparel.
I am extremely fortunate to be able to teach at the Harry Wendelstedt Professional Umpire School. It is an honor to work alongside our amazing Major League, Triple-A and Double-A umpires. While at umpire school, I am a part of the field staff. As a member of the field staff, we assist students with on-field demonstrations, drills, control games, live innings and cage work.
Umpire school is what made me who I am today. Constantly being surrounded by great people day in and day out makes the job so easy and fun to be around. This is what we look forward to every year!
I have two passions in life... Teaching and Umpiring. I am blessed to be able to work Minor League Baseball but even more so to teach at the Harry Wendelstedt Professional Umpire School. While at umpire school, I am a part of the field staff. As a member of the field staff, we assist students with on-field demonstrations, drills, control games, live innings and cage work.
