Side-by-Side
Comparison of Programs
In this day and age of quick
sound bites, false claims, and skewed facts and figures, we
offer you a side-by-side comparison in an "apples to apples"
format. We promise to bring you the unparalleled, most
comprehensive training available. Be aware of imitators. We have
been in the business longer than anyone, and we continue to be
the most productive and most successful program today!

Wendelstedt Umpire School |

Nearest Competitor |

Staff |
|
Comprised of 12 current Major
League umpires, and 15 umpires from every level of Minor
League Baseball equally.
We are proud to announce that not
only did all of our AAA staff members get selected to
work the Arizona Fall League, but all seven were also
selected to work Major League Spring Training.
Only two additional MLB roster
spots were added to the call-up list for the 2009
season; both were Wendelstedt instructors. |
|
No current Major League umpires on staff.
Have only one AAA umpire on staff. Remainder of staff
are AA and lower, mostly consisting of A and Rookie
level umpires with very limited experience teaching or
umpiring.
High staff turnover rate. |
Having a
Major League umpire stop by for a day or two to
hob-knob or pal around pales in comparison
with the experience that our
staff of veteran MLB umpires, instructing you on a
day-to-day basis, will provide.
By far, we provide you with the most well-rounded
staff ever available!
Most senior member of their staff claims to have trained
a large number of current Major League umpires, however,
fails to explain that most of those MLB umpires were
trained by him while he was an apprentice instructor
with the Wendelstedt Umpire School.

Instruction |
|
Our training includes classroom
sessions in the morning, followed by afternoon field
work consisting of pitching cages, drills, control and
camp games, and
live games played
by high school and college teams.
300 hours of supervised training. |
|
Offer only simulated situations and no live games
with real teams.
270 hours of supervised training. |
This is an important difference because,
when sent to
the PBUC placement camp, students are evaluated solely
on their performance during live games.
Beyond the 300 hours of supervised training, we also
provide our students with homework and
access to our online training
center.

School Costs |
|
Approximately $100.00 per day.
Meals seven days per week. |
|
Approximately $100.00 per day.
Meals six days per week. |
Our full meal plan
offers students meals every
day of the week,
compared to our competitor's only six days a week.
This is an excellent feature for students on
fixed budgets.
Many of our students opt to forgo the full meal plan
because of the amenities that
our resort provides. After examining all of
your options, make the determination of what most
benefits you.

Results |
|
Our school routinely receives
more and higher placements out of the PBUC placement
camp.
We have produced well over 100 Major League
umpires. This is substantially more than all of our
competitors in history, combined! |
|
They have had less
than five
students ever reach the Major Leagues full time during
in their over 20 year existence. |
What it all comes down to is
results. And though getting to the Minor Leagues is
first required, your goal should be reaching the Big
Leagues. We have a proven track record of our
graduates not only moving into professional
baseball, but reaching the ultimate goal of the
Major Leagues.
Trying to add names of Major League products by
including the numbers from the school you absorbed
several years into your existence does not provide
accurate results. However, using the "apples to
apples" approach:
Over the last 20 years, with
each institution being run by the same ownerships,
our school has produced over 5 times as many Major
League umpires as out nearest competitor,
and over 3 times as many MLB umpire hires even since their
first former student was promoted to that highest level. |
The bottom line is that our school doesn't
just produce umpires, we produce the BEST umpires! Here are just
some of the Major League umpires trained through the Wendelstedt
Umpire School:
